BECAUSE I HAVE TO FINISH THIS ARGH:

Day 28 → This year, in great detail Ok, so in general order of things that happened:
-Started the year in London. It was awesome. I know this says "in great detail" but really it would take to long to list everything that I did there. -Came back to the US, attended my cousin Nicholas' christening. This kid is 21 years younger than me. EEK! -Went sledding. Crashed back first into a park bench. It was horrifying and painful -Hosted a Superbowl party. -Took an awesome class about skyscrapers in Manhattan. We would spend a few hours every Tuesday walking around analyzing architecture. -Turned 22. Had an entire weekend of birthday celebrations. On my actual birthday saw the Rangers beat the Bruins. -Went to the DR. Also far too much to talk about from this trip. Basically it was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. -GOT PINK EYE. UGH SO GROSS AND HORRIBLE. -Went to Boston to hang out with my friend Lisa/see my sister for her birthday. Watched the Rangers lose to the Bruins live and in person. -Baseball season started, and after not really following it for awhile, decided to start really watching again. -Saw Scott Gomez and Colton Orr at a bar lololol -Went to a Mets game! They won! Sheffield hit his 500th homerun! -My plans for jobs and moving away completely fell apart -Finished classes and then GRADUATED COLLEGE. -Moved back home -Went to the one Yankee game I attended all season due to limited funds. They won 12-3! -Did nothing all summer. Spent the second half of the year being a failure. -Got a new laptop as a graduation gift. -Cried a lot this summer. -Got part time job. -Spend all my money on clothes and hockey. -Have been to 4 Rangers games so far this season, which for me is a lot.
Day 29 → Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
Mainly want to get a better job. That's my main hope.
Plans: January 16: EPIC JOEY MCINTYRE CONCERT WITH takemeback OMG OMG
January 28-Feb. 1: NEW ORLEANS OMG (tentative, I still need to book flights and shit)
Go to more Rangers games and go to Yankee games when the season starts.
Do something fun for my 23rd birthday?
Maybe learn to cook or something like that
Um, I don' really have that many plans just yet.
Day 30 → Whatever tickles your fancy.
<lj-embed id="11" />

Day 26 → Your week, in great detail Um, I worked a lot? Rang up customers, made a bazillion dollars in sales and in turn a bunch of commission. Watched hockey. Complained about hockey. Baked Rangers cupcakes before I watch them be failures against the Thrashers. LOOK AT MY DUMB LOOKING CUPCAKES: I liked the Henrik one best. They did not bring the team good luck that night. At least they tasted good.

Oh, and good story: the other day at work the president of our company and some other high ranking person came in. My manager was flipping out and basically going insane making sure the store looked perfect and insisting that she was going to get in trouble and get fired. Naturally I had to work this day and was stressing out about the whole thing. It ended up that I was on my break for most of this visit, which I was glad about because I was sure I would somehow mess something up while I was working and bring shame to everyone. My break ending coincided with the last 10 minutes or so of this visit, during which point I ended up leading a customer around the whole store trying to find her a pair of jeans to her liking. Naturally she didn't want ANY of the numerous things I showed her and ended up thanking me for me time and leaving. At which point president and other person came right up to me, which of course made me start panicking a bit, like "OH GOD SHE LEFT WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING AND THEY SAW ME OH GOD WE'RE GONNA GET IN TROUBLE." Actually, president and other lady just wanted to tell me they thought I did a really great job leading the customer around the store and showing her approximately everything we had to offer. They thought that was a great maneuver. Go me?

Day 27 → This month, in great detail My month was a lot of the same. Let's see, from November 18-December 18: -Worked -Personally witnessed Alexander Ovechkin's return from injury (actually that might have been Nov. 17). Had my hopes and dreams crushed by him and the Capitals. Gaborik scored 2 goals though. -Went to a 90th birthday party for my dad's aunt -Thanksgiving. Hung out with my cousins -Black Friday didn't kill me. -Something about Sidney Crosby ruining my life. -Went to the dentist. -Organized my clothes, including getting rid of stuff. -Watched hockey. -Attempted to find a new job. Failed at that as usual. -Went out a few times. -etc

Ok, tomorrow I think I might make a post devoted to some of the ridiculous stuff I just found while attempting to organize my clothes/clean my room/not be a lazy mess 100% of the time. While some of the things I found I've actually be looking for for a while (examples: Rangers sweatshirt, Saints t-shirt, dumbass t-shirts Maura and I made for the past 3 Superbowls), a lot of it is weird stuff that I'm not sure why I haven't thrown out before now. Other things are magical ridiculous shirts that I forgot existed. Treasure trove of stupidity in my room right now.

As usual, posting 2 of these bad boys at once. I meant to do it yesterday, but I got into a screaming fight with my parents and wasn't in the mood. Anyway:

Day 20 → A hobby of yours
I like to pretend my hobby is traveling. I mean, this year I did go to both England and the Dominican Republic. If I had more money I would travel more.

I feel like I don't have any true hobbies at the moment. I watch hockey? I'm so lame right now.

Day 21 → A recipe
Ok, go to the store. Buy the really cheap brownie mix. The one that costs about 60cents. Buy two boxes, unless you use a smallish pan to cook them, otherwise your brownies will be like 3 millimeters thick. Follow the instructions on the box, but double it since you bought two boxes of brownie mix. Cook it. Eat the brownies. The end.

Um, yeah, I'm not really much of a cook...

Tomorrow I am going to the dentist for the first time in around 2 years. I can't see this ending well, somehow. I am pretty confident I'm going to get yelled at by the dentist herself. Blerg.

Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
I DEDICATE THIS TO takemeback

Ok, actually I really like Wheat Field with Cypresses by Van Gogh. I think it's gorgeous. I saw this up close at the National Gallery in London. Have a look:

Day 18 → Whatever tickles your fancy

This is always stupid and hilarious. ALWAYS. No, better yet: STAALWAYS.

Marc is my favorite, btw. Not just in terms of Staals. Just in general. As a player and as a person. He is good at defense. He loves to take naps. I see nothing not to like. Really though, he is my favorite player, and I'm still mad the Rangers don't sell a Staal shirt.

Staalways.

Day 19 → A talent of yours
Ummmm, I don't even know. I am not very talented. I can fold sweaters and shit like that pretty well.

Day 16 → A song that makes you cry (or nearly)
<lj-embed id="8" />
This song made me cry when I was a moody 14-year-old and it still makes my sad now. Even though this song was apparently featured in both A Cinderella Story and One Tree Hill. Whatever.

When I was in 9th grade, I thought the Bleed American album was the greatest thing I had ever heard (look, I had JUST moved on from my boyband phase, don't judge me). I listened to it constantly for about a year. Actually, it was still in heavy rotation even after that, until the end of high school This was back when I had my Diskman and I would listen to it on bus rides when I was on the freshman basketball team and lacrosse and later cross country and indoor track. Listening to that album now reminds me of sitting on the bus when we had to go to random Westchester schools like Edgemont or Briarcliff or Fox Lane other various high schools with fancy sounding names we had to play (I shouldn't talk, my high school was *~Albertus Magnus~*). I remember the Westchester lacrosse refs were TOTALLY BIASED against Rockland teams. Oh, and my Freshman basketball team beat all the Westchester teams we played that year, if I recall. Actually, so did our cross country team my junior year, which was the year we went to the State Finals. We totally dominated New York State Section 1, Class C that year. I was so athletic. Good times.

Um, anyway, that tangent aside, I still really like Jimmy Eat World. But that might just be me.

I'm getting to the end of my 9000 day weekend. I attempted to apply to some jobs. That was a fail as usual. Now I'm watching the Duggars because I have nothing else to do. My life is stupid.

Day 14 → A non-fictional book

This was the first one I thought of. I love Band of Brothers.

Day 15 → A fanfic
To be honest, I don't really read much fanfic. I'll read the occasional story, but for the most part it's not really my thing. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one on lj who isn't that into it. However, this needs a response, so I give you:

Growing Up Cullen by oxymoronassoc and saint_renegade

No, it's not REALLY fanfic. Yes, it's about Twilight. Yes, you're right, I... do not like Twilight. But I know far too much about the series than I'd care to admit (THANKS FOR NOTHING, SNARKFEST), and this cracked me up to no end. They see the ridiculousness of these books. Also, this is intentionally funny, unlike said book series, ya know? OH SNAP I WENT THERE.

Here are the rest, should you feel so inclined.

Semi-related side note: I look a little bit like a vampire today. I think because I was trying some new make up and it's possibly not the right color for my skin tone, and I just look exceptionally pale. Which is saying a lot, because I always look pale, but this is a whole new level even for me.

I need a life.

Yesterday I was in the city to go to a Rangers game, as I am wont to do. We got there early, and Kim and I were wandering around the area near the Garden, looking for somewhere to eat/grab a drink. It was then that we came to Foley's on 33rd St, right across from the Empire State Building. I'd heard of this bar before, because they had banned the singing of "Danny Boy." Inside they have all this sports memorabilia and it seemed pretty cool. No big deal.

So we're sitting at the bar, in our Rangers finest, eating and what have you. These two Pens fans sat next to us and we were chatting, everything was going fine, when suddenly a whole large group of people with Penguins jerseys on walk in. I jokingly say to the Pens fans next to us, "Oh I didn't know this was a Pittsburgh bar." At which point there was a pause and he was all, "Um, yeah, it is."

You guys, there are 342523452345 bars in Manhattan (approximately), AND I MANAGED TO PICK THE ONE BAR WHERE PITTSBURGH FANS CONGREGATE. So awkward. I was so mad that I felt totally conspicuous in a bar in my own city. Stupid. I guess next time I have to intensely research every bar I ever contemplate entering.

After this the Rangers proceeded to ruin my life. Pretty standard for games I attend though.

Also at the game, we were sitting directly in front of the most annoying Penguins fans possibly of all time. THEY WOULD NOT SHUT UP. They had a loud running commentary about every little thing that happened. They would randomly mention the fact that the Penguins won a Stanley Cup, and would imply that the Rangers had never before won the Cup. Then one of the guys at one point was telling his friend about the Rangers/Devils rivalry, except that the things he said were all wrong

Also, and I don't know if you all know this, but Sidney Crosby plays for the Penguins. I might not have been aware, but luckily these two douchebags mentioned him roughly every other sentence. Regardless of whether he was on the ice or not or actually doing anything. I'm not really sure if there are any other players on the Penguins. I mean, it looked like there were from where I was sitting, but these guys are obviously great fans, and they would know and would have mentioned them. Or maybe there are six guys on the Penguins all named Sidney Crosby! Must be confusing for fans.

At one point, during a particularly long tirade during the 1st period from these guys about how Sidney Crosby was the best player in the game we were currently watching, I had to turn to Kim and loudly ask, "HEY KIM, HOW MANY GOALS DOES MARIAN GABORIK HAVE?" and "ALSO, WHICH PLAYER IS CURRENTLY NUMBER ONE IN THE LEAGUE IN GOALS? MARIAN GABORIK? REALLY? FASCINATING!" Unfortunately these guys left before the third period, so I couldn't get their insight into the Rangers' failure.

There were also a bunch of other annoying Pens fans in our section. I'm sorry to any Penguins fans on my f-list, but everyone near us was making me want to just punch people. Makes me wish the Penguins would never win another game ever again. And normally I kinda like the Penguins. UGH WHY DOES HOCKEY MAKE ME SO MAD?

I have no problem with people supporting their team, and sometimes I like to talk to fans of the other teams I see at games but these guys were so annoying. Personally, they made me feel bad for every annoying thing I've ever said as a Yankees fan about the Yankees. I'd like to apologize to everyone for ever annoying the shit out of you and acting like Derek Jeter is the only player in baseball or something (I don't think I've ever done that last bit, but who knows). I'm really sorry.

AT LEAST AFTER THE GAME I GOT TO WATCH THE SAINTS WIN!

Oh hey here is this:
Day 12 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Here are two Beatles.

Day 13 → A fictional book

Because Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors.

Oh hello there lj-land.

I think I might be allergic to my job. Not in the sense of "LOL my job sucks I am lazy and don't want to go to it." But more in the sense of "Every time I go to work lately I end up with a sinus headache." Not a severe headache, but enough that I can feel it. And it makes my ears feel weird. Really irritating.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving and sitting at the kids' table as I do each year. The age range for this table is 19-27. Average height is about 6'. WE ARE CHILDREN AND WE WILL HAVE OUR TABLE.

Already falling behind in this project:

Day 05 → Your favourite quote
"WAYNE GRETZKY'S IN TOWN?!?"-random dude on the street one time.

Never not funny. Anyway, I guess I'll pick a real quote. I don't really live by quotes. Ok, I live by quotes in the sense that I like to quote my favorite tv shows in everyday conversation whenever possible. I suppose right now my mantra is:

"Men are born to succeed, not fail".-Henry David Thoreau

I have to keep telling myself that.

Day 06 → Whatever tickles your fancy
I know one of the days involves posting a YouTube video, so when that time comes, I'll post something really deep and meaningful, but for now MY FAVORITE YOUTUBE VIDEO:
<lj-embed id="7" />
WHY YOU HAFF TO BE MAD?
"He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt..."

Today's adventure involved going to Staten Island for my Great Aunt Mary's Ninetieth (90th) birthday. That lady is awesome, and she said she's going to knit me a nice blue scarf. It was brought to my attention that my father, on his mother's side of the family, is one of 32 cousins. And that's only the one side of the family! I have no idea how many are on the other side. It's just so many people. I have 13 cousins in total and I can't even keep track of them all. Rock on, Irish Catholic during the baby boom family! Luckily only a few of those 32 people were actually present, because that would have been too mind-blowing. Today I also met some random second cousins and my grandfather gave me $20. So, a successful day I suppose.

Oh look, and just under the wire for today too:

Day 04 → Your favourite book
~*TWILIGHT*~
LOL J/K

This one is hard and I'll be honest I changed my answer a few times, but I'm going to have to go with:

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.
"That's some catch, that catch-22," he observed.
"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed

I am too tired to think of anything clever to say about this book, just that it's fantastic and both hilarious and tragic. READ IT.
YOU GUYS, THEY RANDOMLY LET ME LEAVE WORK EARLY TODAY! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER! I don't even care that it means I don't get paid. I got to go home! Now I can really enjoy my Saturday evening plans of... absolutely nothing, actually. Whatever, I don't care, I'm not at the mall.

Moving along.

It's time for:

Day 03 → Your favourite television programme
(I'm keeping the non-American spellings from whoever I copied and pasted the list from originally)

To be honest, I don't really watch too much tv. Besides hockey, I I really only watch maybe 5 shows regularly: 30 Rock, The Office, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, and The Big Bang Theory. I'm not a huge tv person I guess, but I will say that I love the shows I do watch. HOWEVER, the greatest/my favorite tv show of all time:

<lj-embed id="5" />
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. BECAUSE THERE'S ALWAYS MONEY IN THE BANANA STAND!

Oh, but let's not forget the other greatest show ever made:
<lj-embed id="6" />
Thank you Canada!

Since I decided to start this yesterday, that would make today:

Day 02 → Your favourite movie
My favorite movie is:

<lj-embed id="4" />
No, that's really my favorite movie. It's not high cinema or anything, but whatever, I don't care. AND THAT SCENE IS NEVER NOT AWESOME.

True story: I wasn't into hockey at all, but I loved this movie, and my friend Kim and I, while watching this movie one time at her house after the Chirstmas Dance our senior year of high school, had this conversation:

Kim: So, how come neither of us ever got into hockey? It seems like it would be fun to actually watch.
Me: I don't know why really. I've always WANTED to watch it and secretly wanted to play. I guess it's not that popular so I just never could get into it. Also, I guess my family's more into baseball and therefore so am I.
Kim: Ok, so idea: LET'S START WATCHING HOCKEY!
Me: Um, we can't.
Kim: WHY?!
Me: They are having a lock out? I don't know, maybe you heard about it?
Kim: What, really?
Me: [explanation about the lock out. I'm not really sure how/why I knew so much about it.]
Kim: New plan: When hockey starts again, we will watch it! Ok, which team do we watch?
Me: That's a stupid question. The Rangers. Please.

THE END.

[That was paraphrased, clearly. I don't remember word for word what we said, but I remember having that conversation and personally deciding what our favorite team was going to be.]

So, in conclusion, Miracle made me become a hockey fan. Or something like that.

Maybe someday I'll actually be good at livejournal and make interesting posts and actually comment on people's entries. (I do actually read everything, but forget to comment. Sorry.) BUT NOT THIS DAY!!!!

Everything is the same, I guess. Still spending all my money on clothes and/or hockey. Recently attended 2 Rangers games (vs. Thrashers and vs. Caps). They lost both games. Still working. I think I had more I wanted to say, but I completely forgot. I'm awesome, clearly.

Anyway, I decided to do this 30 Days of Sharing thing that's going around. I'll probably fail to actually do this everyday. Sooooo, here we go.

Day 01 → Your favourite song
<lj-embed id="3" />
I actually have a playlist of my favorite songs that includes at least 32 songs of varying levels of musical quality that I love, but this is by far my favorite. HOW DOES IT FEEL?

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Day 02 → Your favourite movie
Day 03 → Your favourite television programme
Day 04 → Your favourite book
Day 05 → Your favourite quote
Day 06 → Whatever tickles your fancy
Day 07 → A photo that makes you happy
Day 08 → A photo that makes you angry/sad
Day 09 → A photo you took
Day 10 → A photo of you taken over ten years ago
Day 11 → A photo of you taken recently
Day 12 → Whatever tickles your fancy
Day 13 → A fictional book
Day 14 → A non-fictional book
Day 15 → A fanfic
Day 16 → A song that makes you cry (or nearly)
Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Day 18 → Whatever tickles your fancy
Day 19 → A talent of yours
Day 20 → A hobbie of yours
Day 21 → A recipe
Day 22 → A website
Day 23 → A YouTube video
Day 24 → Whatever tickles your fancy
Day 25 → Your day, in great detail
Day 26 → Your week, in great detail
Day 27 → This month, in great detail
Day 28 → This year, in great detail
Day 29 → Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
Day 30 → Whatever tickles your fancy.

BLERG

I just wanted to update to let everyone know about my impending doom, otherwise known as Black Friday. Actually, I'm dreading all of the next two weeks or so in terms of work. Because I'm working A LOT. I mean, it's less than if I had an actual full time job, but it's a great number of hours standing on my feet. For example, next Tuesday I'm scheduled to work 10-7, which isn't really too bad. Except that since I'm too nice or some shit like that, I agreed to cover for another girls shift since it's her birthday that day, which would mean working from 10-10. TWELVE HOURS. OPEN TIL CLOSE. WHY WOULD I AGREE TO THIS? She did say that she would cover one of my weekend shifts, since they seem to ALWAYS schedule me for Friday and Saturday nights. And she knows I hate working those.

On top of that I'm working a million other hours over the next couple of weeks (the only people who work more hours than me are the managers who have full time hours). And Black Friday I'm working 3pm-12am. BLERG. I mean, at least I'm not working the morning, that is the upside, but MIDNIGHT. And then I also have to work the next day as well. I am filled with dread. I need a new job.

OH HEY AS I WROTE THAT WORK CALLED AND I JUST AGREED TO COVER SOMEONE'S SHIFT TONIGHT. WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY DO I DO THESE THINGS?

And yet, I feel bad looking for new jobs right now because I feel like if I magically got something I'd be screwing the store over for the holiday season.

At least I can look forward to tomorrow, because I'm going to Rangers vs Capitals. I HOPE OVECHKIN PLAYS THAT WOULD BE REALLY EXCITING.

Aaaaaand now I have to go get ready for work. At least I'll get some monster paychecks so I can purchase more clothes from the store and fund my interest in hockey.
So there was this thing that happened, and I was really excited, and then there was a parade! Which I went to! Also: Yankees!

Of course due to various stupidity and obstacles, I guess we didn't get there early enough. We ended up standing in a Location of Fail, right at the end of the parade where it turned down Chambers Street. But the parade turned away from us, so we weren't even that close. All of my pictures are mostly of people's hands and cameras. And there was an NBC truck blocking part of the view. Oh, and I was facing directly into the sun, so that didn't help my pictures any. Oh and there were so many people and I could barely move. Here are 5 pictures:

This was in Foley Square, as we were walking to the parade.
I swear this is Hideki Matsui. And some others (Possibly Hinske and Mitre and someone else?).

Oh look it's AJ Burnett. And Jose Molina. And David Robertson? And aw fuck it, I give up.

Here is the scene after the parade, trying to escape Broadway:

And back in Foley Square:

We tried to watch the ceremony on the big screen they had set up, but we couldn't hear anything, so we gave up and went home. So it was kind of a lame day for me.

However, I've decided that when the Rangers have a parade (WHEN NOT IF!!!!) , I'm basically camping out. It will be the most epic parade of all time.

Oh, hey, for comparison, here was my view from the Giants parade:

Still not sure how I pulled that off.

Oh yeah, and then on top of going to the parade, I had to work at 5. So before work, I went to Buffalo Wild Wings on the 4th floor of the Palisades Mall. Sitting at the next table was Rev Run (or DJ Run)! It was amazing. He was wearing a blue Adidas track suit and a fur coat.

I'm still tired from being awake for a ridiculous amount of hours, which were mostly spent standing. And I have work later. Blerg.

mono-versary

I feel like I'm getting sick, which is totally awesome. And by "totally awesome" I mean, exactly the opposite of that. It's fitting because tomorrow is what I am referring to as "MONO-VERSARY!" Since one year ago tomorrow, I began a week of having the worst sore throat ever, which I would later learn was ~mononucleosis. Which sucked, let me tell you. I mean, the guy I am certain I got it from had to spend time in the hospital because his spleen ruptured or something like that, so I guess I got off easy. It still sucked that I had a horrendously disgusting sore throat, was given antibiotics for no reason, was randomly exhausted all the time, and then had a weird rash-like thing on the day I was leaving to go to Boston (it didn't stop me from going and having a great time though. MONO AIN'T GONNA KEEP ME DOWN!). Oh and then having to get blood taken for the mono test, during which time the nurse couldn't find the vein until roughly the 27th time. Granted 3 weeks later I felt pretty much fine, but whatever, mono is lame.

Side note: I was reading last year's entries about being sick, including one that I wrote after the election entitled, "IOWA: The New York of the Midwest!" It's making me laugh, because I vaguely remember talking about that (most likely with takemeback , because who else did I ever talk to last year, really), but mostly because I can't really remember what the point of that statement was.

The real point of this entry was to discuss how I think I'm getting sick. Hopefully, if it's anything at all, it's just a cold or something. I literally can't afford to be sick. Due to no money and no insurance. Also, last night I thought I was getting pink eye, and I almost lost my mind. I feel like I JUST HAD PINK EYE. Except that was 8 months ago, but still.

OH: I MIGHT BE GOING BACK TO NEW ORLEANS AT THE END OF JANUARY. Or something. A friend of mine and I were talking about maybe going down for a few days and visiting my friend Katie who lives there. I am waiting to hear back from the friend who wants to go to see if she approves the dates I suggested. Otherwise I will just go by myself, because I truly need to go back there ASAP. BEST CITY NOT NAMED NEW YORK IN THE WORLD!!!!

This entry was stupid, and I'm sorry.

OH NO! MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY IS DUE TOMORROW!

I was in Barnes and Noble today, minding my own business/leafing through a Yankees book, when these two young women came up to me and said that they were students and they were wondering if they could ask me a question. I assumed they were doing a project for psychology or marketing or something, so I said, ok, fine. I immediately regretted this decision when they began asking me if I knew that God was female and shoved a Bible in my face and made me read passages that proved this to be true. They also asked me if I wanted to go to the Bible section to discuss this, which I declined, preferring to stay in the sports section next to the table of books about the Yankees. I felt really uncomfortable, but I never know how to get out of these situations, so the whole time I was just "Uh huh" and "Oh, that's interesting." Then they gave me a card with their phone number, so I could call them to set up a time to talk more about this topic. This was after I managed to get out of giving them my email so they could contact me. I'm probably not going to call them. I need to stop setting myself up for awkward scenarios.

Unrelated:

I bought Seasons 1&2 of 30 Rock the other day. What a great investment on my part. I've already watched Season 1. Good times.

ALSO:

Rangers vs. Coyotes tomorrow. I'm going. These were the tickets that were delivered and marked as a contagious substance for some reason. I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS EVENT. I haven't been to a game yet this year AND MAH BOY PETR PRUCHA WILL BE THERE. Here is a GIF that sums up how I feel:

(I've had this saved for a while and needed an excuse to use it.)

Rangers better not fail me tomorrow.

THE END.

Let's look at the weird package I received from FedEx today.

I was excited to get some mail and then:

I'm sorry what?
I looked this up:
Category B infectious substances are infectious but do not meet the criteria for Category A. (Category A infectious substances are capable of causing permanent disability, life threatening or fatal disease to humans or animals when exposure to them occurs.)

Um, ok?

Here is the infectious substance:

So for all my hockey people: WATCHING HOCKEY IS INFECTIOUS (BUT NOT LIFE THREATENING).
Hockey season is almost here!!

Just so you know:

I officially have tickets to at least one Rangers game this season. October 26, Rangers vs. Phoenix Coyotes. AW YEAH! I can't wait to see my beloved Petr Prucha, who I miss with all my heart, as well as Lauri Korpikoski. And Ilya Bryzgalov, just because he fills my heart with joy.

I CAN'T WAIT.

Also, Kim and I have already made plans for the first game of the season, which involved inviting people besides ourselves to come to my house and watch the game/drink. AND that day Shileagh Law, my favorite local band that plays Irish music is playing a local bar, so it's like my dream come true (hockey/Irish music). I'm super excited.

This evening, after purchasing hockey tickets, Kim and I attended a half-way to St. Patrick's day party (even though it isn't yet half-way to St. Patrick's day). My dad's best friend is the owner of the bar sponsoring the event, and volunteered to work the door. This meant free admission, and since my dad knows the bartenders, this also meant free beers. And at one point, when it seemed we had to pay, I got my dad to pay for our drinks. It was awesome.

Basically I am in a great mood right now. I should probably go to bed though since I have gone out two nights in a row like I have some sort of social life or something.
(very important!)

Actually I'm not really counting down until anything else. This update is useless.

Also Yankees, wtf are you doing right now?
Yesterday I went down for an interview with the temp agency and I suppose it went ok. They said they would call me and let me know if they have any openings for me. So I could start temping soon.

I was actually an hour and a half early, due to planning on getting there early anyway and managing to catch a train at Tarrytown that left about 25 minutes early than I intended. It turned out that my interview place was right near a whole bunch of skyscrapers that I learned about in my skyscraper class last semester. Sadly I was all alone and I couldn't bore anyone with a long lecture about the architecture and zoning regulations of the time period when they were built.

I basically wandered around for a while and ate lunch in the underground concourse at Rockefeller Center. Then I went and chilled in this little park, which was down the block from where my interview was. Then I had the interview.

Oh, when I got home, my dad suggested I apply to work at one of the local banks. Not as just a part time or filler job until I get something else. Rather, as a REAL job in hopes that I get promoted and can have a career working at a bank. I asked him why I would want to do this and he told me that it was because that's "the kind of degree you have." I informed him that I he was apparently misinformed at some point during my four years in college. And he asked me what kind of degree I had, to which I had to explain that I had a B.A. in sociology, because he had either forgotten or just didn't know this information.

I have no interest having a career in banking. While I have no options at the moment, that is basically the opposite of what I want to do with my life.

Maybe someday I will stop talking about Job Search Fail 09. Hopefully before everyone decides to unfriend me out of sheer boredom.
I'm sick of summer and this waiting around...

First, let me just say that I am so sick of the ongoing monsoon-like conditions of the Tri-State Area. I know there's no use in complaining about this stupid weather, BUT GOD DAMN am I sick of the thunderstorms and downpours and the like. Oh and the ridiculous humidity. That sucks.

The Ongoing Job Search of Epic Fail is still going on and still pretty much failing. One of the job listings I'm looking at right at this moment needs me to submit my salary requirements in my cover letter. I don't really know what my salary requirements are other than "WHATEVER YOU WANT TO PAY ME." I'm not expecting a lot in terms of salaries, really.

I also sent in my resume to an employment agency (which I didn't really want to do), except that this agency is only for jobs with non-profits. And since I would greatly prefer working for a non-profit rather than a corporation, I figured why not. Plus even if I get just a temp job, it's better than no job and I would earn some money and maybe some actual experience.. And while I still don't have a job, THE AGENCY ACTUALLY CALLED ME. I was shocked because I have gotten so used to sending my resume to where ever and then, you know, never hearing back from them ever again. So I have to go down to their office in Manhattan on Tuesday and do an interview. However, I am not getting my hopes up, since the theme of my quest for a job is FAIL.

Oh, and look at this comforting list: http://www.indeed.com/jobtrends.jsp

So, what I'm getting from this is that there are no jobs in NYC and I have to move to DC. TERRIBLE WORK, NEW YORK.

I'm just going listen to Vampire Weekend and just apply to random jobs that will never respond to my terrible lack of skills.
